HAMMOND, La. – The Lamar University softball program dropped the lone contest on Saturday afternoon to the SE Louisiana Lions by a 7-3 decision at North Oak Park.
The Cardinals started off the game with a run by junior
Aleka Xayaseng as she stole home after being put into scoring position from
Taylor Murphy. Lamar went onto force the first two outs of the bottom of the frame before the Lions broke out the big bats for three runs. The second inning would go by quickly has the Cardinals left one on base, while the Lions were forced into a three up, three down situation.
The Cardinals went onto to even things up in the third on a fielding error by the Southeastern shortstop that allowed freshman
Sydnee Adams and senior
Hannah Carpenter to score. Defense for both teams shined in the fourth as no runs were given up in the frame. The Cardinals left one on base in the fifth before the Lions tacked on four runs on three hits to retake the lead, 7-3, and hold onto that advantage for the remainder of the contest.
