BEAUMONT, Texas - In the midst of a three-game winning streak, Lamar University's women's basketball team earned their third weekly honor of the season. For the second time this year, freshman Akasha Davis was the recipient of the Ticketmaster WAC Freshman of the Week award.

This past week, the Dallas native notched 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. She also put up 13-of-23 from the field for a 56.5 field goal percentage. Against McNeese State, she posted a game-high 25 points on eight-of-14 from the field while making nine free throws and grabbing five rebounds. Though she would only score 10 points in the next game against Texas State, she contributed defensively with six rebounds and two steals. Her performances in both games would lead to two wins as the Cardinals are back to even at 4-4.

Davis first won the award back on November 15th following two strong performances against New Mexico and Howard Payne. She and the Cardinals will be hosting Prairie View A&M this Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
