OXFORD, Ohio – Five Cardinals scored in double figures Saturday afternoon but couldn't slow down Miami (Ohio) as the Red Hawks picked up a 104-75 victory to hand Lamar University its first loss of the season.
The Cardinals (1-1) shot better than 50 percent in the second half to finish the game 28-of-60 (.467) from the field, including an 11-of-21 (.524) performance from three-point range.
Despite the Cardinals hot shooting in second half, the Red Hawks were just a bit better. Miami opened the game converting 19 of their first 33 attempts and finished 39-of-64 (.609). That mark included a 17-of-32 (.531) performance from three-point range. The Red Hawks also held an advantage on the boards outrebounding LU, 37-27.

Avontez Ledet. The newcomer finished the day 5-of-6 from the field in 11 minutes of action. Transfer
C.J. Roberts added 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting.
The Red Hawks were led by 20 points from Dae Dae Grant. He was one of five Miami players to score in double figures.
The Cardinals will be back in action Monday when they travel to Atlanta, Ga., to take on Georgia Tech. The game against the Yellow Jackets will tip off at 7:30 p.m. (6:30 p.m. Beaumont time).
