BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University's youthful Cardinals put up a strong fight Thursday evening but dropped a 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) decision to Sam Houston at McDonald Gym. The loss drops LU to 4-14 (.222) on the season and 0-4 in conference play.
The Cardinals finished the night with 29 kills but recorded a .107 attack percentage (29-18-103). Sam Houston got out to a slow start but ended the night with 45 kills on 113 swings (.212).
LU was led offensively by
Paige Dugan's seven kills, while
Amber Johnson,
Kaitlyn Gil, and
Malaysia Murdock each added five. Murdock also added three blocks on the night.
Hannah Waters dished out a team-high 16 assists, while freshman
London Hatch added 11 assists and three service aces.
The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they face Stephen F. Austin. The match against the Ladyjacks will begin at 3 p.m. from McDonald Gym.
