BEAUMONT, Texas. – The Lamar University softball program fell to Stephen F. Austin in series finale at the LU Softball Complex in six innings, 11-0.
The first two innings went scoreless as sophomore
Aaliyah Ruiz got the start in the circle. Ruiz tossed 3.2 innings before being relieved by senior
Jade Lewis. Lewis tossed 1.2 innings and picked up a strikeout in the process.
The Ladyjacks relied on the arm of Ashley Kriesel, the reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week, in the circle. She tossed her second complete game of the weekend while picking up six strikeouts in game three.
Redshirt sophomore
Victoria Garivey went 2-for-2 today at the plate to lead the Cards, while senior
Elizabeth Castillo finished the afternoon going 1-for-2 at the plate. Both Garivey and Castillo picked up the lone hits for Lamar on the afternoon.
The Cardinals fall to 8-12 overall and drop to 0-3 in Southland play. They will host a midweek matchup with UTSA before playing Northwestern State next weekend on the road.
UP NEXT: The Cardinals will welcome UT-San Antonio to the LU Softball Complex for a midweek match up on March 10. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.(CT).
