BEAUMONT, Texas – Fresh off their thrilling five-point victory at rival McNeese Saturday afternoon, the Lamar University men's basketball team returns to action Wednesday to face Central Arkansas. The Cardinals (11-11/5-6 Southland) pulled back to .500 on the season after posting a record-setting performance against the Cowboys in Lake Charles.

Davion Buster tied a school and Southland Conference record with 11 three-pointers to lead all players with 39 points in the victory. For the Cardinals to pick up their second straight win, they will need a similar performance from the team – across the board – who shot better than 50 percent from the field.
The win Saturday moved the Cardinals two places in the standings as the Red and White jumped from ninth to a tie for seventh with Northwestern State. Big Red enters the week just a game back of UCA in the standings, and a half game up on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
After having dropped six of eight, Central Arkansas heads to the Golden Triangle having won consecutive games. The Bears (7-15/.318) are currently sixth in the league race just a game back of McNeese and a game up on the Red and White. UCA enters the new week coming off an eight-point victory at Northwestern State.
The Cardinals lead the all-time series over Central Arkansas, 12-7 (.632), but the Bears have had the upper hand in the series lately. The Cardinals have dropped three straight in the series and seven of the last nine. The Cardinals are 6-2 (.750) all-time against UCA in Beaumont. The Bears recorded a seven-point victory last year in Conway.
Wednesday's game is slated to tip off at 7 p.m. from the Montagne Center. It can be heard live on Newstalk 560 KLVI and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
