BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball program heads to San Marcos, Texas to square off against Texas State before the holiday break. Tip off scheduled for 4 p.m. CT from Strahan Arena.
Leading the Cards through six games is junior guard
Angel Hastings who boasts a points per game average of 12.5 points and adds on 25.3 minutes per contest. Hastings is currently third in the Southland in free-throw percentage at 85.0 percent. Preseason All-Conference selection senior
Jadyn Pimentel is second behind Hastings in scoring for the Cards with a 7.7 average while tacking on 1.5 steals per game.
The Bobcats are led by Da'Nasia Hood. Hood leads the Bobcats with 18.3 points per game and tacks on 9.0 rebounds a game. Kennedy Taylor helps the Bobcat offense out with an average of 4.5 assists a game.
The Cardinals will come back to Beaumont after a short break before going on the road to Austin, Texas on Tuesday, December 29
th when they square off against the Texas Longhorns before starting conference play.

LAST TIME WE PLAYED
- The Lamar University women's basketball program dropped a non-conference matchup on Wednesday after being defeated by TCU, 79-53, at the Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
- The first quarter came out to be a game of runs between the Cards and the Horned Frogs as TCU went on an 12-4 run to open the game before a three pointer by junior Angel Hastings allowed Lamar to pull things to within three at the 3:39 mark in the first. The Horned Frogs shot 40 percent in the first while the Cards were held to 23.5 percent, but turnovers costed TCU in the first as they committed five to Lamar's zero. Hastings put up four first-quarter points to lead the Cards.
- Hastings finished with a season-high 22 points after going 7-for-18 from the field. She added one rebound and one assist to her stat line. Sophomore Malay McQueen finished the afternoon with 14 points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist.
SERIES HISTORY
- This marks the 23rd meeting between the programs with the Bobcats leading the Cardinals, 22-10, in the series.
- The last time the programs met came on Thanksgiving weekend in the 2014-15 season when the Cards traveled to San Marcos and fell 79-72 to the Bobcats.
