LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Cardinals fell in their final game of the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout, 99-49, to the Fresno State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon from the South Point Arena in Las Vegas.

Micaela Wilson nailed a jumper in the paint to open the scoring for the Cardinals. Fresno State extended their lead to 10-2 in the first quarter behind three made free throw by Haley Cavinder. Lamar made some crucial substations in the first that allowed the pressure defense to work for the Cards as they held the Bulldogs on a scoring drought from the 7:42 mark to the 4:47 mark of the
first. Fresno State shot 43.8 percent in the first while holding the Cardinals to a 17.6 percent shooting.
Second quarter woes continued to plague the Cards as the Bulldogs controlled both ends of the court. Eight first-half turnovers for Lamar helped Fresno State take a commanding lead, 34-12, with 6:02 left in the half. The twins of Haley and Hanna Cavinder of Fresno State combined for 29 first-half points on 11-15 shooting as the Bulldogs took a 50-18 lead into the halftime break. Freshman

Lamar's offense came out shooting efficiently in the third quarter at a 33.3 percent, while shooting 87.5 percent from the line. The Cardinals used a 12-0 run from the 5:49 mark to the 3:38 mark to loosen the lead from the Bulldogs, but that did not prove enough has Fresno State went on to extend their lead, 61-30, at the 3:30 mark on a layup from Aly Gamez. The Cardinals put together a solid effort in the third, but the Bulldogs were able to hold onto the lead going into the fourth.
Fresno State came out and continued to pressure the Cardinal offense as well as kept their own offense going. Lamar was held scoreless over the middle three minutes of the frame before a shooting foul on Wytalla Motta sent junior
Umaja Collins to the line for two. The Bulldogs went on to hold the lead for the rest of the frame and took the victory, 99-49, over the Cardinals.
