BEAUMONT, Texas – The Cardinals will travel to Huntsville, Texas for a Southland Confernece contest against the Sam Houston State Bearkats on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Johnson Coliseum. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT) and will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

Briana Laidler was able to pull down 11 rebounds and blocked three shots to help Lamar defeat the Huskies.
Sam Houston State (11-4, 6-0 Southland) comes into the contest a road win over Central Arkansas, 72-54. The Bearkats are led by sophomore Amber Leggett, who is averaging 15.6 points per game. Leggett averages .490 percent from the field shooting.
This will mark the 63
rd meeting between the programs on the hardwood, with the Cardinals holding the series lead, 37-26. The Cardinals have not dropped a contest to Sam Houston State since March of 2016.
RECAPPING OUR LAST GAME
- After a slow start, the Cardinals came out with the victory over Houston Baptist, 60-53, on Saturday at the Montagne Center.
- The Huskie offense broke out for 16 points in the first quarter on 45 percent shooting, while limiting Lamar to just eight points on 20 percent. The Huskies were led by Megan Valdez-Crader who finished with 16 points and three rebounds.
- Lamar used a huge second quarter to claw at the Huskie lead. The Cardinals used some big threes by redshirt senior Amber Vidal to help claw back at the lead, with Houston Baptist heading into halftime on top, 26-24, over Lamar. Senior Briana Laidler had 11 rebounds and three blocks on the afternoon.

- The Lamar University Cardinals extended its home court winning streak to 39 straight games with an 81-76 victory over Sam Houston State in Southland Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
- With the win, the Cardinals improve to 19-5 overall and 12-1 in SLC play, while the Bearkats fall to 13-10, and 8-5 in SLC play.
- The Cardinals had five players score in double-figures in the contest led by Miya Crump with 22 points. Moe Kinard followed with 17 points. Jadyn Pimentel, Chastadie Barrs, and Umaja Collins rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 points, 13 points, and 12 points respectively.
