SPOKANE, Wash. - Struggling in the series finale, Lamar University (16-34) got a couple of bright spots in the game when Robin Adames got within six hits of the LU career record and Cole Girouard made a great over-the-shoulder catch. Even so Gonzaga University (27-20) emerged with a 22-4 decision over the Cardinals.

Gonzaga got started quickly with five runs on six hits in the first and kept the pedal down throughout the game, scoring in each inning except the second. That inning was held scoreless due to Girouard's webgem of a play in center field.

Lamar's bats had a few standout innings as well. In the second Adames reached on an error and reached third on a double by Anthony Quirion. A single by Reese Durand brought Adames home before two strikeouts ended the rally.

A single by JC Correa sparked the Cards in the sixth. His hit was followed by Adames' 250th career hit, a single that put Correa on second. Quirion was hit-by-pitch to load the bases and Durand drew an RBI walk. A double play cut short the scoring chances for the Cards.

Solo home runs by Correa and Logan Berlof in the eighth inning scored the final two runs for Lamar. Correa's homer put him solidly in the lead for team homers with his 10th of the year.

The Cardinals return to action at TCU on Tuesday, May 14, before returning home for the final three games of the year, against Central Arkansas, May 16-18.
