HUMBLE, Texas – Playing in the first tournament of the spring season, the Lamar University men's golf team opened play at The All American hosted by the University of Houston at the Golf Club of Houston. Big Red sit in 14th place after the first round of action.

Leading the way for the Red and White were
Eason Wang and
Cody Banach. Wang and Banach shot first rounds of one-over par 73 on the par 72 7,067-yard course. Wang and Banach sit tied for 25th after the first round. They are five shots off the lead held by Mark Reppe of Baylor, who shot four-under par 68.

Shooting the best round of his 2018-19 season was
Kevin Lee. Lee, who is playing in his second tournament of the season carded a round of 74. His previous low round of the season was a 77. Lee is tied for 38th.

Rounding out the Cardinals team was
Sam Dumez and
Hugo Hellman. Dumez sits in 82nd place after shooting a round of 11-over par 83. Dumez is playing in his fourth event of the season for LU. Hellman is playing his fifth event of the season and sits in 83rd place. Hellman shot a round of 15-over par 87 in the first round.

Playing as an individual for the Cards was
Juho Kurikka, however, he withdrew from the first round.

The Cards return to action on Monday, Feb. 18 when they participate in the second round of The All American. Cards tee off starting at 8:45 a.m. from hole 10. Lamar is playing round two with New Mexico State and Individuals.
