BEAUMONT, Texas - Following a close fought battle last time around, Lamar University volleyball will look to secure their fourth conference win of the season in an effort to progress to the Southland Conference tournament. The Cardinals will match up against current seventh seed Southeastern Louisiana on home turf at the McDonald Gym on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday's afternoon's match up against Southeastern will be the second match up this season. The Cardinals came up short with a 1-3 deficit in the last game on Sep. 28. The Lady Lions (12-14, 6-6 SLC) are currently riding a one-game losing streak following a narrow loss to Central Arkansas on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Jodi Edo looks to pose the greatest threat in attacking play for the Lady Lions. Edo is ranked third in the conference for hitting percentage (0.333) and ranks seventh for totals points (323) thanks to her 265 kills this season and 90 blocks. Caroline Golden will also pose a threat from the service line; Golden has accumulated 37 aces this season and places third in SLC rankings for service aces (0.39 Avg/S).
Last time around: Lamar vs. New Orleans - Tuesday November 5 at 7:00 p.m. - McDonald Gym
Despite the match being decided in three sets, Lamar University kept it close in the final two games against the University of New Orleans (12-15, 5-8 SLC) on Tuesday evening. The Cards were within striking distance in every set but ultimately fell in three sets to the Privateers; 25-16, 25-23, 25-19.
Kayla Neumann and
Abigale Nash each had nine kills for the Cards and
Dannisha House poured in another seven.
Annika Slovak did double duty for LU with 31 assists and the most digs on the night with 14, her third consecutive match with a double-double.
Erin Pequeno had 10 digs, and Nash,
McKenzie Bennett, and
Dylann Guerra each had eight digs.
Saturday afternoon's match up against Southeastern Louisiana will also incorporate the honoring of three Cardinal seniors -
Nina Pevic,
Erin Pequeno, and
Dannisha House - in a pre-game ceremony. The regular season will draw to a close on the road at Stephen F. Austin on Nov. 14 and at Abilene Christian on Nov. 16.
