BEAUMONT, Texas – Adding a former Lamar University standout and an experienced assistant to her coaching staff, Cardinal volleyball interim head coach
Michelle Kuester announced Tuesday that
Chelsea Rose would join the staff as an assistant coach and that
Amy Hollowell would return to the program as a graduate assistant.
Â
"I'm very excited about both of the additions I've been able to make to my staff this offseason," said Kuester. "I've known Chelsea since we competed together at New Mexico State, and before she transferred she was one of the best setters in the state of California while playing at Bakersfield College.
Â
Adding Amy to our staff as a graduate assistant is just icing on top of this offseason. I think we've taken a significant step towards success in the 2018 season."
Â
Rose comes to the Golden Triangle after three seasons as the volunteer assistant coach of New Mexico State. In her role with the Aggies Rose oversaw player development, breaking down film, and scouting reports. She also served as the Aggie Volleyball camp director and managed all of the NMSU youth programs. During her time in Las Cruces, N.M., Rose was also the director of the Diamondback Volleyball Club and assisted in coaching the 15 Black and 13 Black teams. She graduated from New Mexico State with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
Â
Hollowell returns to the Cardinal program after four years as an outside hitter and team leader from 2014-2017. She played in 101 matches in her career, appearing in 332 sets while totaling 446 kills, 597 digs, and 169 total blocks. Hollowell will continue her education while pursuing a Master's Degree after graduating with a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice in May 2018.
