BEAUMONT, Texas – Survive and advance is the name of the game during the Southland Conference Women's Soccer Tournament. Lamar University came away with a 3-2 victory over Southeastern Louisiana in the quarterfinals. The Cards face the seventh seed Stephen F. Austin in the SLC Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 2.

The champion of the Southland Conference Women's Soccer Tournament will be the automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship. Â

Lamar started its conference championship title defense against Southeastern Louisiana in the SLC quarterfinals on Wednesday. The Cards came away with a 3-2 victory over the Lady Lions.

LU scored two goals in the first half of the contest.
Anna Loftus scored the first goal for the Cards before the Lady Lions scored an own goal putting the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.

The early part of the second half belonged to the Lady Lions as they scored two goals in the first 10 minutes of the half. Christina Cutura scored the first goal before the Cards had an own goal and the match was tied at 2-2.

Big Red scored the game-winning goal in the 67th minute of the match when
Amelia Fullmer found
Madison Ledet. Ledet scored as she beat the goalie to the left side of goal. With the win, the Owls advanced to the SLC Semifinals.

"It felt really good getting the win tonight, its tournament time, the girls were really prepared for it," Head CoachÂ
Steve Holeman said. "We felt we had a good first half, with the two-goal lead and that lead is tricky. The next goal is huge, and we know SLU was very good on set pieces and they battled back and once they tied the game we kept our composure moved the ball well and got a lot of chances and got the game-winner."

The Cardinals and Ladyjacks meet in the second semifinals game of the Southland Conference Tournament. Stephen F. Austin enters the match after defeating second seed Houston Baptist, 1-0, on Wednesday. The Ladyjacks scored in the 88th minute to defeat the Huskies.

In the regular season matchup between these two teams, the Cards came away with a 3-2 victory at SFA.
Juliana Ocampo scored the winning goal with two seconds left in the second overtime. Lamar outshot Stephen F. Austin 25-17 in the contest.

The Ladyjacks have scored 16 goals this season. Leading the team is Sophia Fondren, who has scored four goals. Katelyn Termini and Breanna Moore follow with three goals apiece. Fondren leads the team with 10 points on the season.

Madeline Talbot leads the Ladyjacks in goal this season as she has played 825 minutes. She has a goal against average of 0.98 and has recorded 34 saves. Allyson Halliday has appeared in 14 games and played 798 minutes. Halliday has a goal against average of 1.92.
