The Cardinals enter the opening round as a three seed in the four-team pod, which is hosted by Texas A&M. Ranked 55 in the country, the Cardinals will take on No. 18 Texas in the opening round of the tournament while the Aggies will face George Washington in the other half of the bracket.

The start time for LU's match against the Longhorns has been moved to 2 p.m. Friday – a change from the original listing of 11 a.m. The Aggies will now open the tournament against George Washington at 11.

Southland Conference Coach of the Year Scott Shankles is trying to add another chapter to what has already been a storybook season for the Red and White. Coming off their first Southland regular-season title in 40 years, the Cardinals won their first SLC tournament title in program history to earn the league's automatic bid to the postseason. In addition to the regular-season title, LU knocked off two nationally ranked teams (Iowa and Rice) and enters the NCAA Championships ranked among the nation's top 60.

The Cardinals and Longhorns opened the 2016 campaign in January. UT won that match 6-1 in Austin.
