FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University's football game at Nicholls Thursday, Nov. 3rd has been picked up by Cox Sports Television announced the Southland Conference office. Cox Sports Television offers coverage throughout the state of Louisiana and the Gulf Coast region.
The game, which is slated for 6 p.m. kick off, will also be simulcast on ESPN3 – the network's online platform.
With the addition of the game at Nicholls, eight of LU's first nine games have either been broadcast online or television. The lone exception was Big Red's victory at Abilene Christian. The Cardinals are 0-2 in televised road games this season.
The Cardinals joined forces with ESPN in January to deliver live coverage of all home men's and women's basketball games on ESPN3. That package extended to the 2016 football season. Unless selected for the Southland's weekly television package, all LU home football games will be televised on ESPN3 in 2016. The deal with ESPN3 allows LU fans the ability to watch Big Red online at ESPN3.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app or stream on televisions through Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox360 or Xbox One. ESPN3 is available in more than 99 million households at no additional cost to fans with an affiliated internet or video provider, including Time Warner Cable, DirecTV and Dish Network. The Cardinals are 2-5 (.286) since the start of the contract.
The Cardinals enter the week 3-5 (.375) overall and 3-3 (.500) in the Southland after dropping a seven-point decision against Houston Baptist Saturday evening in Beaumont. The Colonels bring a 4-4 (.500) record with them into the contest. Big Red is 6-2 (.750) all-time against Nicholls but is coming off a two-point setback to the Colonels last season in Beaumont. The Cardinals have not lost in Thibodaux, La., since the 1983 season.
