Lady Cardinals bedevil Lady Demons

NATCHITOCHES, La. - - Jenna Plumley poured in a season-high 26 points to lead the Lamar University women's basketball team to a convincing 90-61 victory over host Northwestern State in a Southland Conference game Wednesday.

Kalis Loyd had her team-leading third double-double of the season for Lamar (15-4 overall, 4-1 SLC) with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Ang Green had 14 points for the Lady Cardinals, while Monique Whittaker added 13 points for Lamar.

Lamar, which held a 42-32 lead at halftime, led by as many as 32 points in the second half. The Lady Cardinals shot 50 percent (16-of-32) over the final 20 minutes.

Plumley was 10-of-18 from the field, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range as Lamar extended its winning streak to three games. The 90 points were the second most scored by the Lady Cardinals this season.

"It's good to see us getting into the flow of things," said Lamar coach Larry Tidwell, who recorded his 80th win. "It's a good win for us. I thought we played well."

Jordan James led Northwestern State (7-12, 2-4) with 13 points. Jessica McPhail added 12 points for the Lady Demons.

Lamar returns to action at 2 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Nicholls in a Southland Conference game at the Montagne Center. Nicholls (6-13, 1-5) dropped a 72-71 decision to conference-leading McNeese State on Wednesday.
