        BEAUMONT - Lamar University overcame a sluggish start to knock off former conference foe        University of Louisiana by a 3-1 score on Saturday in the Lamar Volleyball        Invitational.
        The win improved the Lady Cardinals to 5-6 on the season and sets up a tournament        championship match against Albany (7-4) tonight at 7. Both teams are 2-0 in the four-team        tournament.
        Lamar managed just five kills in the first set in falling 25-20 to the Ragin' Cajuns.        However, behind the solid passing and defense of junior Bailey        Smith and sophomores Kaleigh        Wright and Angel        Colyar, LU rebounded and took the next three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-19 and        25-14.
        Junior middle blocker Jayme        Bazile was once again impressive, finishing with a team-high 14 kills, a .458 attack        percentage and seven total blocks. The Beaumont Ozen product has 31 kills in the two        matches Lamar has played this weekend.
        Smith finished with 13 digs for Lamar and Colyar added 11.
        The Ragin' Cajuns got nine kills each from Lesley Mirarchi and Kerrilyn Lazare in the        loss. Lindsay Brown chipped in with a game-high 16 digs.
