CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - A record-setting night for Brittney Williams ended in disappointment for the Lamar University women's basketball team Wednesday night.
Williams played in her 118th career game, setting the Lamar standard, but the Lady Cardinals dropped a 79-64 decision to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders in a Southland Conference game.
Darika Hill had 19 points and eight rebounds for Lamar (22-7, 12-3), Williams had 11 points and seven rebounds and Kalis Loyd had 10 points for the Lady Cardinals.

Despite the loss, Lamar can still earn the top seed in the upcoming State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament with a victory over visiting Nicholls at 2:05 p.m. at the Montagne Center.
Lamar never led Wednesday, as it was unable to overcome a poor shooting performance in the first half. The Lady Cardinals were just 10-of-35 (28.6 percent) from the field in the first half.
Lamar was 5-of-21 (23.8 percent) from 3-point range for the game.
