        HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Lamar shot just 36 percent from the floor as the        Cardinals lost to Sam Houston State 90-63 at Johnson Coliseum Wednesday.
        Lamar (10-11, 2-4 Southland) suffered its third-consecutive loss. Kendrick        Harris led the Cardinals with 15 points and five assists, while Anthony        Miles finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.
        Following a Coy        Custer 3-pointer 57 seconds into the contest, Sam Houston used a 7-0 run to take a 10-3        lead. The Bearkats stretched their advantage to 33-16 with 7:23 remaining and took a 48-31        lead into the half. SHSU turned 11 LU turnovers into a 16-5 edge in points off        turnovers.
        Sam Houston shot 57 percent in the half and had four 3-pointers. LU shot 48 percent in        the first period.
        Lamar got the deficit to 15 points, at 50-35, on a jumper by Miles with 17:51 to play,        but the Bearkats continued to make threes in the second half - seven total - and took their        largest of the game at 82-51 on a dunk by Arthur Zulu.
        Sam Houston (13-5, 5-0) shot 53 percent for the game and was 11-for-20 from outside.        They had 28 assists on 31 field goals. Corey Allmond led all players with 24 points,        including four 3-pointers as he had 16 of their first 24 points. Ashton Mitchell scored 14        and handed out five assists with Preston Brown coming off the bench to contribute 12.
        The teams combined to shoot 56 free throws as a result of 49 fouls.
        Lamar will return to play on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. when it faces UTSA at the Convocation        Center in San Antonio. The game will be carried live on KLVI 560-AM.
