Idaho Box Score l Appalachian State Box Score

FULLERTON, Calif. -- The Lamar volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses to Idaho and Appalachian State in the final day of the Titan Classic at Titan Gym on Saturday. The Lady Cardinals are now 0-3 on the season.

The day started off with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-13 loss to Idaho. The Vandals hit .212 for the match and held the Lady Cardinals to a minus-.010 percentage. Idaho also held the advantage in blocks (13.5-5.0) and digs (55-49) and finished with nine service aces.

Redshirt freshman Cynthia McCollum led the way offensively for Lamar, posting seven kills, while senior Adrianne Meengs handed out 13 assists. Defensively, sophomore Bailey Smith had 16 digs and freshman Kaleigh Wright added ten.

Lamar dug out a season-high 49 balls in the three-set match.

In their final match of the classic, Appalachian State came away with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 win. After the Mountaineers led throughout the entire first set, the teams combined for 12 ties and four lead changes in the second set, and 11 ties and four lead changes in the final set.

Senior Lauren Holdorff posted ten kills and hit .400 with classmate Kaci Brewer adding eight kills from her spot. Both players posted three block assists each as LU sent down eight in the match - their most all weekend.

Meengs finished the tournament with 69 assists and 19 kills to earn a spot on the all-tournament team.

Lamar will return to action next weekend when it travels to the UAlbany Classic, hosted by the University at Albany. The Lady Cards will open with Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 4, before meeting up with Hofstra and Albany a day later.
