DENTON, Texas - In a game that was added as a replacement for a pair of postponed and cancelled games, the Lamar women's soccer team was defeated by Texas Woman's University, 1-0, at the TWU Soccer Field on Sunday.
TWU scored the game-winner on a corner kick in the 70th minute. Theresa Sanches' ball from the corner-kick spot found Dani DeCoursin who volleyed the ball past LU goalkeeper Jessica Winters for the lone goal of the contest.
Lamar (1-5) was outshot 32-7 in the contest including 17-2 in shots on goal.
TWU (4-2) also took seven corner kicks compared to zero for Lamar.
Lisa Hance led the Cardinals with three shots. Stefani Turner and Brittany Holmes each had a shot on goal for LU.
Lamar will return to action on Tuesday when they play at Prairie View A&M in a game that was originally scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12 in Beaumont but was postponed due to the impending landfall of Hurricane Ike. Tuesday's kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
