LUBBOCK - The Lady Cardinals opened day two of the Red Raider Roundup by pushing tournament host Texas Tech to the brink before falling 3-2.

With the match tied at two games apiece the Red Raiders were too much to handle in game five, as they took the game 15-8 to win the match. The two teams went back and forth during the match as the teams traded wins with Tech taking game one 30-25, Lamar taking game two 30-21, Tech won game three 30-21 and LU held onto game four 30-27.

Lamar dropped to 3-3 on the year with the loss, while Texas Tech improved to 4-1.

The Lady Cardinals were led by setter Adrianne Meengs who posted her third triple double of the season with 55 assists, 11 kills and 10 digs, while hitting .375 for the match. Sophomore Kaci Brewer and freshman Genevieve Gladle had solid outing, Brewer knocking down 16 kills with a .33 hitting percentage, while Gladle posted a double-double with 15 kills and 14 digs while hitting .387.

Senior Molli Able also had a solid match for the Lady Cards, posting 15 kills with a .379 hitting percentage. Junior libero Andrea Hamilton finished the match with 13 digs.

The Red Raiders were led by Michelle Flores who had 15 kills, while Amy Gandy and Alicia Ostemeyer each added 14 kills. Setter Emily Ziegler had a double-double with 54 assists and 10 digs, while Texas Tech was led defensively by Jenn Harrell with 17 digs.

As a team Lamar out hit Texas Tech .269 to .261, but the Lady Cardinals struggles from the service line proved to be too much to overcome. Lamar wracked up 21 service errors, while Texas Tech had nine. The Red Raiders also had six service aces to LU's three.

The Lady Cardinals will wrap up play in the Red Raider Roundup at 5 p.m. when they take on Villanova.
