BEAUMONT - The Lamar University volleyball continued their undefeated start to Southland Conference play on Saturday, rolling past SLC East foe UT-Arlington 3-0 at McDonald Gym.

The Lady Cardinals improve to 9-0 in the SLC and 18-7 overall, while running their winning streak to 14 straight matches. The 14 straight wins is the longest win streak in 30 years, second only to the 1977 squad that won 19 straight, while the 9-0 start to conference play is the best since the 2001 opened with nine straight. Texas Arlington falls to 6-3 in SLC play and 13-9 overall.

The Lady Cardinals opened the match strong, jumping out to a 21-12 lead and coasting to a 30-17 win. Lamar overpowered the Mavericks in the opening frame, posting a .286 hitting percentage, while UTA hit -.056.

In game two the Mavericks pushed Lamar to the limit, but could not close out the game, as the Lady Cardinals held on for a 30-28 win. Arlington had battled back from a 27-21 deficit, to get within a point a 27-26, but LU held off the UTA run and closed out the game. Meagan Adams and Genevieve Gladle led the way for Lamar offensively, posting six and four kills respectively in the game.

In game three the Lady Cardinals closed out the match, running away for a 30-20 win. Lamar was led by five kills from Kaci Brewer.

For the match the Lady Cardinals were led by Brewer's 12 kills with a .321 hitting percentage, while Adams hammered down 11 kills and hit .500. Adrianne Meengs was solid setting the ball passing out 44 assists with seven kills and seven digs, while Andrea Hamilton collected 24 digs to lead all players in the match.

The Mavericks were led by Ellen Murray and Bianca Sauls who each registered seven kills, while Dani Johnson picked up 13 digs.

The Lady Cardinals will be in action again on Tuesday, when they travel to Lake Charles, La. for a 7 p.m. showdown against McNeese State.
