LAFAYETTE, La. - The Lamar University volleyball team snapped a four-match skid Tuesday night, with a 3-1 win over the Louisiana Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Earl K. Long Gym in Lafayette, La.
The Lady Cards improved to 4-10 on the season with a 30-28, 28-30, 30-20, 30-28 win over ULL who dropped to 3-8 on the year with the loss.
Lamar was led by senior Buchi Okoh, who knocked down a season-high 21 kills with a .425 hitting percentage, serving seven aces while also posting eight blocks. In addition to Okoh's performance, the Lady Cards got 11 kills from Molli Abel.
The setting duties were split by Ashley Todd and Adrianne Meengs who passed out 36 and 18 assists respectively. On the defensive side of the net, LU was led by Meagan Adams and Alex Brink who had 11 and 10 digs respectively.
The Ragin' Cajuns were led offensively by the players in double digit kills, with Kim Rodgers posting 18 and Elizabeth Inman and Rachel Mauti each adding 14.
The Lady Cards will be in action again on Friday when they open the SLC schedule, taking on Central Arkansas at 7:30 p.m. in the Montagne Center. In addition to beginning SLC play for both teams, it will be Lamar's first home match of the season. The weekend will conclude with a Saturday night showdown with Northwestern State at 7:30 p.m. in the Montagne Center.
