BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped both of their matches at the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. on Saturday, falling to North Dakota State 3-1 and South Dakota State 3-0 to close out tournament play.
The Lady Cards started the day with a 3-1 loss to North Dakota State, falling 30-26, 26-30, 30-28, 30-20, falling to 3-9 with the loss, while NDSU improved to 6-7.
Lamar was led by Lauren Rush who collected a double-double, with 11 kills and 12 digs, while Buchi Okoh added 10 kills. Adrianne Meengs passed out 38 assists for LU, while Meagan Adams and Alex Brink collected 16 and 10 digs respectively.
In their second match of the day, the Lady Cardinals closed out the Jackrabbit Classic with a 3-0 loss to the host Jackrabbits, falling 30-25, 30-24, 30-20. The loss drops Lamar to 3-10 on the year, while SDSU improve to 9-4.
The Lady Cards were led by Courtney Mitchell who knocked down eight kills, while Meengs and Ashley Todd passed out 16 and 15 assists respectively. Brink led Lamar with 10 digs.
The Lady Cardinals will be in action again on Tuesday night in Lafayette, La., when they take on Louisiana Lafayette at 7 p.m.
