BEAUMONT - Powered by a double-double by senior Buchi Okoh, the Lamar University volleyball team picked up their second consecutive 3-0 win, knocking off the Lady Broncs of UT-Pan American Tuesday night in the Montagne Center.
The Lady Broncs appeared to be poised to take game one, holding a six point lead at 23-17, but the Lady Cards quickly closed the gap and took game one 30-26. In game two Lamar took control and of the match with a 30-20 win and used their momentum to close out the match with a 30-24 win.
The Lady Cards were led by Okoh, who knocked down 16 kills with a .361 hitting percentage while collecting10 digs. Courtney Mitchell added 11 kills while Ashley Todd passed out 32 assists. Andrea Hamilton led LU with 11 digs and Molli Abel added 10 digs, while Adrianne Meengs dished out 11 assists.
The Lady Cardinals, who improved to 11-17 with the win, will be in action again Friday night in Corpus Christi, when they take on the Islanders on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 7 p.m.
