NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Lamar University volleyball rebounded from three straight losses Saturday night, knocking off the Northwestern State Lady Demon's 3-0 in Natchitoches, La.
The Lady Cardinals opened the match with a back and forth game which they pulled out 31-29, and used the momentum from the tight win to take games two and three 30-24 and 30-24 for the victory.
The win boosted Lamar to 10-17 on the year, and 6-6 in Southland Conference play, while Northwestern fell to 9-14 and 4-9.
Lamar was led by Lauren Rush who had 15 kills and a .467 hitting percentage, while Buchi Okoh added 13 kills with a .611 hitting percentage. Adrianne Meengs collected another double-double for Lamar, passing out 34 assists and 11 digs while Andrea Hamilton and Kaci Brewer added 14 and 12 digs respectively.
As a team, the Lady Cards hit .260 for the match while holding Northwestern State to a .142 hitting percentage. Lamar also posted five blocks while the Lady Demons only had two.
The Lady Cardinals will be in action again Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m., taking on the University of Texas Pan American in the Montagne Center.
