Lady Cardinal Volleyball Downed by SHSU 3-0

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Lamar University Lady Cardinals dropped to 1-4 in Southland Conference play Saturday night, with a 3-0 loss to Sam Houston State Johnson Coliseum in Huntsville.

The Bearkats jumped out early and took control of the match, handing the Lady Cardinals a 30-7 loss in the opener. Lamar was never able to get into a groove as Megan McNamara served 18 straight points to give Sam a 20-2 lead.

In game two the Lady Cardinals picked up their play, but Sam Houston was able to hold them off for a 30-20 win and a two game advantage.

In game three Lamar finally found their groove but were not able to hold off the Bearkats who took the match with a 30-26 win in game three.

For the match the Lady Cards were led by Molli Abel's 12 kills, while Ashley Todd had 27 assists.

Lamar volleyball will be in action again next Friday when they take on the UT-Arlington lady Mavericks in Arlington at 7 p.m.
