NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Lamar University volleyball team returned to Southland Conference action Friday night, falling to the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks 3-0 at Johnson Coliseum in Nacogdoches.
The Lady Cards and Stephen F. battled close in game one, with SFA pulling out a 30-28 win to grab the early lead. In games two and three the Ladyjacks pulled away from the Lady Cardinals, winning 30-16 and 30-19.
Lamar was led offensively by Buchi Okoh and Lauren Rush who each knocked down 11 kills, while setter Ashley Todd passed out 33 assists. Defensively, Erica Brown and Alyssa Parks each chipped in with 10 digs.
The loss drops the Lady Cardinals to 3-13 on the year, and 1-3 in SLC play. Lamar will be in action again Saturday night when they take on the Sam Houston State Bearkats at 7 p.m. in Huntsville.
