BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University volleyball team dropped their second consecutive match Saturday night, falling to the Louisiana Monroe Indians in four games.
The Indians grabbed wins in games one and two, pulling out close contests 31-29 and 30-27, to take a two game lead.
The Lady Cardinals came out fighting in game three, jumping out to an early lead, and cruising to a 30-22 win. Trailing 2-1 in the match, Lamar looked poised to grab a win in game four.
The Lady Indians however would not back down from an early Lamar, as they took the deciding game 30-23.
Buchi Okoh led the way for Lamar, with a match-high 21kills and a .528 hitting percentage, while Lauren Rush knocked down 18 kills for the Lady Cards. Nikki Perry had a productive night with 13 kills, as did Meagan Adams who finished with 12 kills. Ashley Todd passed out 61 assists and the LU defense was led by Erica Brown and Alyssa Parks who each picked up 11 digs.
Lamar will be in action again next Friday night at 7 p.m. when they take on Texas State in San Marcos.
