BEAUMONT - Molli Abel had a match-high 13 kills and Alisa Jackson equaled her season-high with 12 kills to lead the Lamar volleyball team to a convincing 3-0 victory over Louisiana-Monroe on Friday night in Southland Conference action at the Montagne Center.
The Lady Cardinals improved to 9-20 overall and 2-15 in league play after topping the Lady Indians (5-22, 0-17 SLC) by scores of 30-22, 30-21 and 30-16.
Abel, a freshman from Friendswood, finished the match with a .276 hitting percentage, five digs and a team-high five blocks. Jackson, a junior from Burleson, was near flawless during the match, posting a season-high .526 hitting percentage by converting 12 kills on 19 attacks with only two errors. She added three digs and two service aces.
Lamar's Shari Hicks, a sophomore from Round Rock, set career highs with 13 digs and four blocks, while adding nine kills. Senior Ashley Hallagin also played well with her third double-double of the season, handing out a match-high 38 assists to go along with 13 digs.
The Lady Cardinals dominated the Lady Indians in almost every statistical category. ULM's total of 29 team kills and .071 hitting percentage were both season-lows for a Lamar opponent. LU, on the other hand, finished the match with 52 team kills and a .269 hitting percentage.
Lamar finished with a 44-28 assists advantage and a 58-42 edge in digs. The Lady Cards also pounded nine service aces compared to only four for ULM.
ULM was led by Megan Gloor with nine kills and 12 digs. Libero Laura Uyeda added 10 digs for the Lady Indians.
