Nicholson Invited to National Bowl

BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University deep snapper Brent Nicholson has been invited to play in the National Bowl. An all-star game for seniors from non-FBS schools, the National Bowl is being played Sunday from Florida International University's Ocean Bank Field at FIU Stadium.

The game will showcase standout seniors from all over the nation representing NCAA FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA schools from 30 states. The National Bowl is the only senior bowl to focus on non-FBS schools providing the players one more opportunity to play in front of NFL and CFL scouts.

Nicholson was placed in the tough position of taking over for an All-American at deep snapper for the Cardinals. He was one of two deep snappers who were signed during the 2014 signing period. Nicholson reported to camp and won the starting nod and has been the team's starting deep snapper for the past two seasons.

Despite the loss of an All-American, there was no drop off in the position with Nicholson's arrival on campus. Arguably the Southland's most consistent snapper during that time, Nicholson has been nearly perfect on all snaps during his two years in Beaumont, and was a key figure on LU's 2014 squad that set a school record wins.
