FRISCO, Texas – Saturday's football game between Lamar University and Central Arkansas has been added to the ESPN College Extra lineup announced the Southland Conference Tuesday morning. The game, which was already slated to be televised on ESPN3, will kick off at 6 p.m. from Provost Umphrey Stadium.
In addition to being viewed online, the game will also be seen on DirecTV 790, AT&T U-verse 616 and Verizon Fios 323.
LU's game against the Bears has been added to a national lineup of 15 games which includes the Atlantic Coast Conference, Mid-American Conference and Western Athletic Conference among others. The Cardinals home contest is one of just six NCAA FCS games, and one of only two Southland games, picked up by the network this week.
Saturday's game will mark the fifth televised contest for the Cardinals this season. LU is 2-2 (.500) in televised games in 2015, including a 1-0 mark when televised on ESPN3. The ESPN3 victory came against Abilene Christian, where junior running back
Kade Harrington ran for a Southland record 347 yards – the 11
th-best single-game mark in program history.
The Cardinals enter Saturday's game 3-3 (.500) on the season, and tied for fourth in the Southland standings with a 2-2 (.500) record. Central Arkansas (3-3/3-1 SLC) is third in the league standings after their heartbreaking setback against McNeese State.
ESPN College Extra was an initiative that was launched at the beginning of the season to bring hundreds of live ESPN3 college sporting events to TV. The service delivers an extensive portfolio of college sporting events year-round including football, basketball, baseball, softball and more.
The Cardinals are 11-4 (.733) at home over the course of the past two seasons, with the four setbacks coming against nationally ranked opponents. LU is a perfect 2-0 at home this year.
Big Red enters the game looking for its first win over Central Arkansas. The Cards are 0-4 all-time against UCA, including a 0-2 mark in Provost Umphrey Stadium. The series, which began in 2011, has consisted of some thrilling battles in recent history. Two years ago, the Bears scored late to take a two-point victory, and last season LU rallied late to send the game into overtime only to watch the Bears escape with the win.
