Hailed by his coaches as the “ultimate team player,” Nader Bood combined this attitude with his athletic skills to help the Lamar Cardinals post a fine 22-9 record during his playing career. An offensive lineman, Bood was a three-year starter at guard.
Bood was selected to the All-Lone Star Conference team as a senior in 1960. He was also voted by his teammates as Lamar’s Most Outstanding Lineman that season.
Although athletics were a major interest for Bood, the Beaumont businessman and longtime supporter of Lamar’s intercollegiate athletic program was a staunch proponent of the values of a college degree. Symbolic of the traditional student-athlete, he collected his degree in 1961.
