BEAUMONT – Following the announcement of
Jim Gilligan's retirement as head coach of the Lamar University baseball program at the conclusion of the 2016 season, the university announced Friday the formation of a national search committee tasked to find his replacement.
Because of LU's baseball tradition, the head coaching job is a highly sought after position. In celebration of Gilligan's legacy and the anticipation of a promising future, the committee will seek to identify the very best candidate to serve as the new head coach. The search process will begin immediately.
The committee will consist of
Jason Henderson, Lamar University Athletics Director, Dr. Hsing-wei Chu, Faculty Athletics Representative, and
Helene Thill, Associate Athletics Director. Also on the committee are David Bernson, former baseball player at LU, and Henry Strait, special advisor to the program.
