BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar Cardinals have scheduled two dates in the month of March for Pro Day. The first Pro Day will be Tuesday, with the second one slated for Monday, Mar. 23. The Pro Days give Cardinals players an opportunity to work out in front of NFL scouts.
The schedule for both events has check-in set for 8 a.m., with workouts beginning at 9 a.m.
Led by All-American receiver Mark Roberts, the Cardinals have several players in their senior class that have received long looks from scouts at the next level. Roberts leaves Lamar as one of the school's all-time best at the position, catching passes from the school's all-time leading quarterback.
A member of the original signing class, Caleb Berry re-wrote the Cardinal record books during his four years on campus. By season's end, Berry was the school's single-game, season and all-time leader in completions, passing yards, touchdown passes and total offense.
Tuesday will mark the second workout for the NFL that Berry has taken part in. Berry was in Chicago, Ill., Saturday, Mar. 7, to compete at the Chicago NFL Regional Combine.
Lamar's graduating talent doesn't just come from the offense side of the ball. Defensive ends Joe Okafor and Keith Curran both received honorable mention All-Southland Conference honors this past season. Okafor was one of the league's top sack threats after moving back to defensive end following a junior season that saw play the tackle position. Curran took part in a regional combine in Houston last month.
